    Kentiçi ulaşım sistemlerindeki türel ayrım oranlarının ve özel araçlara olan talebin hızla değişmesinden dolayı gelişmiş ve gelişmekte olan ülkelerdeki orta ve büyük ölçekli şehirlerde trafik sıkışıklığı ve tıkanıkları artmaktadır. Ayrıca, konfor ve erişebilirlik beklentilerinin de yükselmesi, özel araç kullanımını artırmış ve toplu taşım kullanım oranının azalmasına neden olmaktadır. Toplu taşım sistemleri, arzu edilen servis kalitesini sağlayabilmek için arz ve talep arasındaki dengeyi sağlamalıdır. Bu nedenle, bir toplu taşım sistemi tasarlanırken diğer tüm sistemlere olan talep belirlenmeli ve bu talepler tasarımda hesaba katılmalıdır. Ayrıca, hızlı nüfus artışı ve köyden kente göçün artması nedeniyle artan toplu taşım talebinin yönetilmesi gerekliliği açıktır. Bu sebeple değinilen konuların önemi doğrultusunda, toplu taşım talebinin belirlenmesi, tahmin edilmesi ve geleceğe yönelik olarak toplu taşım yönetim şekillerinin oluşturulması bu tezin önemini açıkça ortaya koymaktadır.Tez kapsamında, ülkemiz kentiçlerinde yaygın olarak kullanılan şehiriçi toplu taşım sistemlerinin gelişimi, kullanımı, talep analizi ve modellemesi ile birlikte yeni matematiksel metotlar kullanılarak talep tahmini yapılmıştır. Yapılan analizlerde otobüsle toplu taşım talebi, talebe dayalı yıllık ortalama artış oranı, Kraft Talep Modeli, sabit mobilite faktörü kullanılarak tahmin edilmiştir. Yapılan tahminler kullanılarak değişik senaryolar altında arz-talep analizi yapılmıştır. Bu amaçla dört farklı senaryo oluşturulmuş ve en iyi senaryo belirlenmiştir. Geleceğe yönelik toplu taşım yönetim politikaları ve bilet ücretleri belirlenmiştir. Traffic congestions have increased in large and medium size cities in developed and developing countries because of changes in mode choices and increase on demand for private vehicles. In addition, increase on expectations for comfort and access has led to frequent use of private vehicles and caused decrease on the use of urban mass transportation. Mass transportation systems should ensure equilibrium of demand and supply to provide desired level of service. Therefore, while mass transportation systems are being planned, demand for other systems should be determined and taken into consideration in planning. Furthermore, public transport demand should be managed because of rapid population growth and migration. The purpose of this study is to determine the current use of mass transportation and estimate the future demand for mass transportation accordingly and compose mass transportation management patterns for future.In this study, the demand forecast was utilized based on new mathematical methods including demand analysis, modeling and improvement and the use of public transportation systems, which are widely used in urban areas. The demand analyses, including the Kraft Demand Model, fixed mobility factor and average annual growth rate based on demand, are performed. Under different scenarios using estimates supply demand analysis was conducted. For this purpose, four different scenarios were created and the best scenario was determined. The outcomes of these analyses indicated that predictions for urban bus transport demand can be made. Public transport management policies and bus fares for the future are developed under different scenarios. 82

    In an attempt to gain a greater understanding of demand-oriented transport services, the paper summarizes some important aspects of the interaction between fare strategies and demand. Although providing an incomplete compilation of experiences published, the paper highlights some important general insights as a means of arriving at strategy-oriented decisions. The paper points out that the application of new fare structures, to be proposed in many cases, still needs careful research and better data on the demand side. (TRRL)

    Yolculuk taleplerinin tahmini toplu taşıma planlamasının en önemli aşamalarından biridir. Bu araştırmada toplu taşıma yolculuk talepleri yapay sinir ağları kullanılarak modellenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmanın ilk bölümünde çalışmanın amacı açıklanarak konuya giriş yapılmış, ikinci bölümünde İstanbul ilindeki toplu taşıma sistemleri incelenerek çeşitli işletme bilgileri verilmiş, üçüncü bölümünde yapay sinir ağları hakkında bilgi verilmiş, dördüncü bölümünde üç farklı yapay sinir ağı algoritması ve dört farklı veri kümesiyle Deniz İşletmeleri, İETT, Özel Halk Otobüsleri, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Devlet Demiryolları (TCDD) ve Ulaşım AŞ verileri yapay sinir ağlarıyla modellenmiş, beşinci bölümde aynı veriler doğrusal regresyonla modellenerek sonuç bölümünde modellemelerden alınan sonuçlar kıyaslanarak en uygun model seçilmiştir. Prediction of the travel demand is one of the most important phase of transportation planning. The aim of this study is to estimate public transportation demands by using artificial neural networks. In the first section of the study, the objective of the thesis has been stated, in the second section public transportation system of Istanbul has investigated, in the third section artificial neural networks have been explained, in the fourth section Turkish Marine Line, İETT, ÖHO, TCDD and Ulaşım AŞ datas have been modelled by three different algoritms and four different data sets, in the fifth section same data have been modelled by lineer regression and in the final section the results of the models have been compared and the best model has been choosen.     This paper continues the research effort that the authors begun in 2008 on the quality factors that affect adoption of public transportation and retention of its users. The objective of this paper is to explore the impacts of the deep, 7-year economic crisis, on the perceptions of public transport users, with bus as their main transport mode, about service quality. Data from three user-satisfaction surveys that were conducted in Athens in 2008 (pre-crisis), 2013 (mid-crisis) and 2017 (deep-crisis) are used for the analysis. Mann Whitney/Wilcoxon test is applied for the distribution comparison of the responses between the pairs of consecutive years (2008-2013 and 2013-2017), in order to measure the change in users’ preferences. Ordered logit models are developed for the user satisfaction and shift to public transportation after the beginning of the crisis. The results of the analysis indicate that the satisfaction about quality attributes, such as service frequency, conditions at the stations and information provision, are important contributors of the total satisfaction, verifying the results of Tyrinopoulos and Antoniou (2008) and Efthymiou et al. (2014), but their impact varies over time. Despite the general decrease of commuting activities due to increase of unemployment, the shift to public transportation has increased. More specifically, demographic characteristics, such as age, occupation and gender, as well as qualitative factors, such as overall quality of service, service production, transfer quality, ticket services and environmental consciousness, have affected the decision of people to shift to and from public transportation.

    Ovaj rad se temelji na analizi prometne mreže na području Grada Velike Gorice. Analizirale su se trase, duljine linija, stajališta te terminal Velika Gorica. Na temelju brojanja putnika na linijama koje prometuju na području Grada Velike Gorice, utvrđivala se iskorištenost linije tijekom radnog dana i subotom. Najveći problem se nalazi u manjku iskorištenosti kapaciteta vozila na svim linijama. U ovome radu predložiti će se promjena voznog parka, sa vozila većeg kapaciteta na vozila manjeg kapaciteta ili minibuseva tako da se postigne veća zaposjednutost vozila. Prelaskom na autobuse manjeg kapaciteta smanjili bi se troškovi održavanja te bi se povećalo iskorištenje ponuđenog transportnog rada. This paper is based on analysis of traffic network in the City Velika Gorica. An analysis of route, line length, bus stops and terminal Velika Gorica was conducted. Based on passenger counting conducted on all routes in Velika Gorica, utilization was determined for these routes during workdays and Saturday. In this paper, a proposal to change the vehicle capacity, from high-capacity vehicle to low-capacity vehicle will be made, so that the vehicle occupancy would increase. With the change to smaller buses there would be less maintenance cost and the usage of vehicle would rise.

    AbstractVarious studies have advocated the potential for Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) services to deliver sustainable local public transport. This paper investigates the sustainability credentials of DRT services using evidence from UK-based research. More specifically, six potential DRT market niches were identified, including those which offer potential commercial opportunities (e.g. airport surface access) and those that meet social needs (e.g. non-emergency hospital trips). Mode share of these DRT services, against car or bus travel, was simulated from mixed logit models within a panel data modelling framework estimated from survey data. The survey was conducted of over 400 respondents in urban (Rochdale, Manchester) and rural (Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire) areas.Experience shows that it is particularly difficult to make DRT services financially viable. Of the DRT services investigated, those targeting airline or train passengers offer potential. However, they are in direct competition with the car, and so their success depends on the cost and availability of parking spaces. Some of the DRT schemes explored meet social needs, such as to access shopping facilities or hospitals, but they face cost challenges.     Indian cities are known for their notorious traffic congestion and limited mobility. Increasing per capita income and urbanization are further aggravating the already constrained situation and results in hazards like environmental pollution, accidents and health risks. One of the major reasons for the urban congestion problem is the increasing use of private vehicles. This study addresses the problem of congestion by introducing Transportation Demand Management (TDM) strategies. TDM encourages people to shift from private vehicles to public transport modes like mass transit and buses. In this research the Jaipur Walled City is analysed for the empirical research. The research employs an aggregate Logit modelling for analysing modal choice probability. For the purpose of modelling, data is collected by a mix of primary and secondary surveys. Based on the findings, this research discusses strategic interventions in four sectors – road space redesign, public transit improvements, use of MRTS and parking arrangements.

    Demand-Responsive Transport (DRT) is one of the most valid solutions to tackle the problems affecting public transport today, both in urban and rural areas. Despite its undoubted advantages, it still remains underdeveloped compared to its great potential. The purpose of this paper is to understand the role that on-demand transport plays in the strategic choices of public transport authorities (PTAs): to this end, this study examined the DRT services of three geographically distant European cities, in order to test different social, cultural and regulatory backgrounds, examining their main characteristics. Tampere, Braunschweig and Genoa were selected for the purposes of this work; data and information were collected by viewing the official websites of public transport companies and by direct contact via mail/telephone with the managers responsible for on-call transport. The data collected were then analyzed based on specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) identified in academic literature. The results of this paper show that the role of on-call service in the strategic decisions of PTAs depends on the cultural context of reference; some cities focus more on urban services, others on rural transport. In all three case studies examined, on-demand transport is an important aspect of local mobility and with wide room for growth.

    When demand for transportation is low or highly variable, traditional public bus services tend to lose their efficiency and typically frustrate (potential) passengers. In the literature, a large number of demand-responsive systems, that promise improved flexibility, have therefore been developed. At present, however, a comprehensive survey of these systems is lacking. In this paper, we fill this gap by presenting a unifying framework that classifies all demand-responsive public bus systems. The classification is mainly based on three degrees of responsiveness: dynamic online, dynamic offline, and static. For each system we discuss the specific optimization problem modeled, whether realistic data is considered, and the size of the instances used for testing. Where possible, we try to draw conclusions on the current state of the literature and try to identify potential avenues for future research. Ayrıca, konfor ve erişebilirlik beklentilerinin de yükselmesi, özel araç kullanımını artırmış ve toplu taşım kullanım oranının azalmasına neden olmaktadır. Toplu taşım sistemleri, arzu edilen servis kalitesini sağlayabilmek için arz ve talep arasındaki dengeyi sağlamalıdır. Bu nedenle, bir toplu taşım sistemi tasarlanırken diğer tüm sistemlere olan talep belirlenmeli ve bu talepler tasarımda hesaba katılmalıdır. Ayrıca, hızlı nüfus artışı ve köyden kente göçün artması nedeniyle artan toplu taşım talebinin yönetilmesi gerekliliği açıktır. Bu sebeple değinilen konuların önemi doğrultusunda, toplu taşım talebinin belirlenmesi, tahmin edilmesi ve geleceğe yönelik olarak toplu taşım yönetim şekillerinin oluşturulması bu tezin önemini açıkça ortaya koymaktadır.Tez kapsamında, ülkemiz kentiçlerinde yaygın olarak kullanılan şehiriçi toplu taşım sistemlerinin gelişimi, kullanımı, talep analizi ve modellemesi ile birlikte yeni matematiksel metotlar kullanılarak talep tahmini yapılmıştır. Yapılan analizlerde otobüsle toplu taşım talebi, talebe dayalı yıllık ortalama artış oranı, Kraft Talep Modeli, sabit mobilite faktörü kullanılarak tahmin edilmiştir. Yapılan tahminler kullanılarak değişik senaryolar altında arz-talep analizi yapılmıştır. Bu amaçla dört farklı senaryo oluşturulmuş ve en iyi senaryo belirlenmiştir. Geleceğe yönelik toplu taşım yönetim politikaları ve bilet ücretleri belirlenmiştir. Traffic congestions have increased in large and medium size cities in developed and developing countries because of changes in mode choices and increase on demand for private vehicles. In addition, increase on expectations for comfort and access has led to frequent use of private vehicles and caused decrease on the use of urban mass transportation. Mass transportation systems should ensure equilibrium of demand and supply to provide desired level of service. Therefore, while mass transportation systems are being planned, demand for other systems should be determined and taken into consideration in planning. Furthermore, public transport demand should be managed because of rapid population growth and migration. The purpose of this study is to determine the current use of mass transportation and estimate the future demand for mass transportation accordingly and compose mass transportation management patterns for future.In this study, the demand forecast was utilized based on new mathematical methods including demand analysis, modeling and improvement and the use of public transportation systems, which are widely used in urban areas. The demand analyses, including the Kraft Demand Model, fixed mobility factor and average annual growth rate based on demand, are performed. Under different scenarios using estimates supply demand analysis was conducted. For this purpose, four different scenarios were created and the best scenario was determined. The outcomes of these analyses indicated that predictions for urban bus transport demand can be made. Public transport management policies and bus fares for the future are developed under different scenarios. 82

    Yolculuk taleplerinin tahmini toplu taşıma planlamasının en önemli aşamalarından biridir. Bu araştırmada toplu taşıma yolculuk talepleri yapay sinir ağları kullanılarak modellenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmanın ilk bölümünde çalışmanın amacı açıklanarak konuya giriş yapılmış, ikinci bölümünde İstanbul ilindeki toplu taşıma sistemleri incelenerek çeşitli işletme bilgileri verilmiş, üçüncü bölümünde yapay sinir ağları hakkında bilgi verilmiş, dördüncü bölümünde üç farklı yapay sinir ağı algoritması ve dört farklı veri kümesiyle Deniz İşletmeleri, İETT, Özel Halk Otobüsleri, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Devlet Demiryolları (TCDD) ve Ulaşım AŞ verileri yapay sinir ağlarıyla modellenmiş, beşinci bölümde aynı veriler doğrusal regresyonla modellenerek sonuç bölümünde modellemelerden alınan sonuçlar kıyaslanarak en uygun model seçilmiştir. Prediction of the travel demand is one of the most important phase of transportation planning. The aim of this study is to estimate public transportation demands by using artificial neural networks. In the first section of the study, the objective of the thesis has been stated, in the second section public transportation system of Istanbul has investigated, in the third section artificial neural networks have been explained, in the fourth section Turkish Marine Line, İETT, ÖHO, TCDD and Ulaşım AŞ datas have been modelled by three different algoritms and four different data sets, in the fifth section same data have been modelled by lineer regression and in the final section the results of the models have been compared and the best model has been choosen.     This paper continues the research effort that the authors begun in 2008 on the quality factors that affect adoption of public transportation and retention of its users. The objective of this paper is to explore the impacts of the deep, 7-year economic crisis, on the perceptions of public transport users, with bus as their main transport mode, about service quality. Data from three user-satisfaction surveys that were conducted in Athens in 2008 (pre-crisis), 2013 (mid-crisis) and 2017 (deep-crisis) are used for the analysis. Mann Whitney/Wilcoxon test is applied for the distribution comparison of the responses between the pairs of consecutive years (2008-2013 and 2013-2017), in order to measure the change in users’ preferences. Ordered logit models are developed for the user satisfaction and shift to public transportation after the beginning of the crisis. The results of the analysis indicate that the satisfaction about quality attributes, such as service frequency, conditions at the stations and information provision, are important contributors of the total satisfaction, verifying the results of Tyrinopoulos and Antoniou (2008) and Efthymiou et al. (2014), but their impact varies over time. Despite the general decrease of commuting activities due to increase of unemployment, the shift to public transportation has increased. More specifically, demographic characteristics, such as age, occupation and gender, as well as qualitative factors, such as overall quality of service, service production, transfer quality, ticket services and environmental consciousness, have affected the decision of people to shift to and from public transportation.

    Ovaj rad se temelji na analizi prometne mreže na području Grada Velike Gorice. Analizirale su se trase, duljine linija, stajališta te terminal Velika Gorica. Na temelju brojanja putnika na linijama koje prometuju na području Grada Velike Gorice, utvrđivala se iskorištenost linije tijekom radnog dana i subotom. Najveći problem se nalazi u manjku iskorištenosti kapaciteta vozila na svim linijama. U ovome radu predložiti će se promjena voznog parka, sa vozila većeg kapaciteta na vozila manjeg kapaciteta ili minibuseva tako da se postigne veća zaposjednutost vozila. Prelaskom na autobuse manjeg kapaciteta smanjili bi se troškovi održavanja te bi se povećalo iskorištenje ponuđenog transportnog rada. This paper is based on analysis of traffic network in the City Velika Gorica. An analysis of route, line length, bus stops and terminal Velika Gorica was conducted. Based on passenger counting conducted on all routes in Velika Gorica, utilization was determined for these routes during workdays and Saturday. In this paper, a proposal to change the vehicle capacity, from high-capacity vehicle to low-capacity vehicle will be made, so that the vehicle occupancy would increase. With the change to smaller buses there would be less maintenance cost and the usage of vehicle would rise.
