    In this paper we present an approach to evaluate to what extent Mobility Service Providers (MSPs) can be considered (e)MaaS players. Following that approach, we conduct an analysis of 128 MSPs, specifically Shared electric Mobility Providers (SeMPs), currently operating in the European market. The goal of the analysis is twofold. Firstly, it aims at demonstrating the applicability of the proposed approach. Secondly, it aims at offering an overview of the current state of the market concerning the Technical Level of Inte- gration (TLI) of European SeMPs. Our results show that, on the one hand, most of the SeMPs currently operating in Europe have a medium to high TLI. However, those levels are mostly not applicable for multi- modal (i.e. for multiple modes of transport or multiple MSPs) interfaces but for single-mode interfaces. On the other hand, our results also show that there are already some SeMPs in the current European market that have fully integrated functionalities, in that case, SeMPs mostly have multimodal interfaces. Based on the analysis and discussion presented in this paper, we concluded that the TLI approach offers an effective technique to determine, and easily visualize, the level of integration of the technical functionalities of MSPs.

    This paper formulates a specific methodology based on a mathematical model that selects the optimal terminal configuration of individual transport modes with- in the point of integration of passenger transport. The methodology is applicable for the purpose of analyzing the current situation and proposing improvements to the point of in- tegration of passenger transport. The application of the methodology is presented at the point of integration of different transport modes in the city of Šibenik. As the main pa- rameter in the mathematical model, the time distance required for a certain type of pas- senger to walk between each individual terminal within the integration point was chosen. Technical and technological criteria that influence the choice of the optimal configuration were evaluated and included in mathematical calculations. By selecting the optimal ter- minal configuration within the integration point, the preconditions for better integration of transport modes as well as for greater passenger satisfaction will be achieved.

    The Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) Mobility on Demand (MOD) Sandbox Program provides a venue through which integrated MOD concepts and strategies, supported through local partnerships, are demonstrated in real-world settings. This case study documents lessons learned from the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) MOD Sandbox Demonstration, called Ventra–Divvy Integration. The case study is a part of an independent evaluation of the MOD Sandbox Demonstrations sponsored by the USDOT Intelligent Transportation Systems Joint Program Office (ITS JPO) and FTA. The case study includes background on CTA’s MOD Sandbox Demonstration, technical and institutional challenges encountered in the demonstration’s first phase, payment integration and unbanked access as part of the second phase of the demonstration, and discussion of lessons learned and recommended practices identified from this demonstration.

    Digital tools like journey planners and mobile ticketing apps are adopted by more and more users and seen as key enablers to making multimodal travel choices easier. This paper looks at success factors for establishing a highly integrated mobility app. By analysing and comparing levels of integration across different axes for mobility apps as well as geographical coverage and user adoption figures, we identify common types and evolution paths. The findings suggest that vertically integrated apps tend to be limited to one mode and in terms of geographic coverage. Widely used apps often integrate travel information with other functions and have wider coverage, but show low vertical integration levels. If increased multimodal travel behaviour is linked to using mobility apps, then a strategy pursuing wide user adoption may be more successful than building strongly integrated platforms in the first place. This has implications for public and private initiatives looking to build their own app or sharing their data and cooperating with others.

    Urban mobility challenges are complex and involve many different aspects. A central issue is the management of mobility data in the cities, lacking a common structure for multimodal data and access interfaces to the data. The European Commission initiatives such as the ITS Directive 2010/40/EU and the Implementing Decision 2016/209 established some lines along which these issues should be addressed. A special focus is put on the Multimodal Information Services and Systems (MISS). The HARMONY project is a CEF joint initiative by Indra and the Technical University of Madrid, created as a direct continuation of other urban mobility European efforts. It focuses on the promotion of multimodality, while improving efficiency in the use of the available network capacity. A pilot with the involvement of a public transport operator INTER-BUS, road traffic authorities and service providers is already under way in the northeast part of Madrid. The different use cases considered in the project are: • Public Transport fleet management. Addresses the integration of static and real-time public transport information, and the potential exchange of this information to third parties. This currently involves the implementation of solutions based on GTFS, GTFS-RT and SIRI. • Urban Traffic monitoring. Addresses the integration and exchange of information on road incidents between operators, and again the provision of this information to third parties. This involves the implementation of solutions based on DATEX II. • Transit information provision. The key aspect here is the provision of real-time information to public transport passengers and mobility users in general. Several solutions are being currently investigated. HARMONY is aligned in time and objectives with some of the aspects highlighted by the European Commission in the field of urban mobility, and with the corresponding efforts in different ISO and CEN standardization groups. The added value of the project should be the progress in the identification of the particularities of each city and their impact on the specification and deployment of urban mobility solutions.

    The current work deals with the scenario of growing population in the cities and the associated sustainable mobility problems. To address this problem it is developed an system called INTEGRA for a mobile device, based on the integration from different data sources such as multi-modal public transportation systems, car and bike sharing. This system is able to show and give guidance towards points of interests (POI) and promote a social collaborative network for the share of notations towards POI classification. This work is a contribution for the European Project START, where we propose the Integra System. This system’s goal is to make travel easy and sustainable improving information systems integration. This goal is shared by transport operators and authorities associated to the Integra registered brand, promoted by the START consortium, that is already prepared for UK, France, Spain and Portugal.

    In this master's thesis, the concept of shared mobility has been thoroughly defined, encompassing various modes of transportation that are integral to it. The economic and environmental implications of shared mobility have been analysed, along with its role in the context of Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning. Through an examination of different modalities of shared mobility, consideration has been given to how it can be integrated into existing transportation systems and infrastructure, as well as the policies and initiatives that could foster its further development. To facilitate this research, an online survey was conducted using Google Forms to gain a better understanding of people's perceptions and attitudes towards this type of mobility in urban environments. U ovom diplomskom radu, temeljito je definiran koncept dijeljene mobilnosti, obuhvaćajući različite vrste prijevoza koje su pripadni dio nje. Analizirane su ekonomske i ekološke implikacije dijeljene mobilnosti te njezinu ulogu u kontekstu Planiranja Održive Urbane Mobilnosti. Kroz analizu različitih modaliteta dijeljene mobilnosti, razmotrilo se kako se ona može integrirati u postojeće prometne sustave i infrastrukturu te o politikama i inicijativama koje bi mogle potaknuti njezin daljnji razvoj. Za svrhu istraživanja, provela se online anketa kako bi se bolje razumjela percepcija i stavovi ljudi prema ovakvoj vrsti mobilnosti u urbanim sredinama.

    Natuur-beschadigende en kostbare baggeractiviteiten in de Waddenzee zijn momenteel noodzakelijk om de veerverbindingen tussen Holwerd en Ameland en Lauwersoog en Schiermonnikoog in stand te houden. Om deze redenen zijn voor de concessieperiode vanaf 2030 duurzaamheid en betrouwbaarheid op de lange termijn belangrijke elementen in de herziening van het vervoersconcept. Deelvervoer biedt kansen voor een duurzame en kostenefficiënte exploitatie van de veerdiensten. Dit vraagt echter om een zorgvuldige afweging van belangen van onder meer de rederij, bewoners, vervoerders, ondernemers, bezoekers en overheden. In dit onderzoek verkenden we het potentieel van delen in de keten van personen- en goederenvervoer naar Ameland en Schiermonnikoog. Eerst analyseerden we het vigerend beleid op verschillende schaalniveaus en de trends in het vervoer naar de Waddeneilanden. Daarnaast voerden we interviews uit met stakeholders (n=18). Op basis van deze analyse hebben we vier toekomstscenario’s geschetst met verschillende maten van delen en ketenintegratie: 1) Heft in eigen hand; 2) Samen eigen verantwoordelijkheid; 3) Samen zorgeloos op pad; en 4) Comfort op maat. Vervolgens hebben we in twee focusgroepen gereflecteerd op de betekenis van deze scenario’s in de praktijk. We concluderen dat deelconcepten kansrijk zijn voor het vervoer naar de Schiermonnikoog en Ameland, mits de rederij proactief maatschappelijke actoren betrekt, de veerdienst als integraal onderdeel van de keten wordt benaderd en de vloot wordt opgebouwd uit kleinere schepen.

    In this paper we present an approach to evaluate to what extent Mobility Service Providers (MSPs) can be considered (e)MaaS players. Following that approach, we conduct an analysis of 128 MSPs, specifically Shared electric Mobility Providers (SeMPs), currently operating in the European market. The goal of the analysis is twofold. Firstly, it aims at demonstrating the applicability of the proposed approach. Secondly, it aims at offering an overview of the current state of the market concerning the Technical Level of Inte- gration (TLI) of European SeMPs. Our results show that, on the one hand, most of the SeMPs currently operating in Europe have a medium to high TLI. However, those levels are mostly not applicable for multi- modal (i.e. for multiple modes of transport or multiple MSPs) interfaces but for single-mode interfaces. On the other hand, our results also show that there are already some SeMPs in the current European market that have fully integrated functionalities, in that case, SeMPs mostly have multimodal interfaces. Based on the analysis and discussion presented in this paper, we concluded that the TLI approach offers an effective technique to determine, and easily visualize, the level of integration of the technical functionalities of MSPs.

    This paper formulates a specific methodology based on a mathematical model that selects the optimal terminal configuration of individual transport modes with- in the point of integration of passenger transport. The methodology is applicable for the purpose of analyzing the current situation and proposing improvements to the point of in- tegration of passenger transport. The application of the methodology is presented at the point of integration of different transport modes in the city of Šibenik. As the main pa- rameter in the mathematical model, the time distance required for a certain type of pas- senger to walk between each individual terminal within the integration point was chosen. Technical and technological criteria that influence the choice of the optimal configuration were evaluated and included in mathematical calculations. By selecting the optimal ter- minal configuration within the integration point, the preconditions for better integration of transport modes as well as for greater passenger satisfaction will be achieved.

    The Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) Mobility on Demand (MOD) Sandbox Program provides a venue through which integrated MOD concepts and strategies, supported through local partnerships, are demonstrated in real-world settings. This case study documents lessons learned from the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) MOD Sandbox Demonstration, called Ventra–Divvy Integration. The case study is a part of an independent evaluation of the MOD Sandbox Demonstrations sponsored by the USDOT Intelligent Transportation Systems Joint Program Office (ITS JPO) and FTA. The case study includes background on CTA’s MOD Sandbox Demonstration, technical and institutional challenges encountered in the demonstration’s first phase, payment integration and unbanked access as part of the second phase of the demonstration, and discussion of lessons learned and recommended practices identified from this demonstration.

    Digital tools like journey planners and mobile ticketing apps are adopted by more and more users and seen as key enablers to making multimodal travel choices easier. This paper looks at success factors for establishing a highly integrated mobility app. By analysing and comparing levels of integration across different axes for mobility apps as well as geographical coverage and user adoption figures, we identify common types and evolution paths. The findings suggest that vertically integrated apps tend to be limited to one mode and in terms of geographic coverage. Widely used apps often integrate travel information with other functions and have wider coverage, but show low vertical integration levels. If increased multimodal travel behaviour is linked to using mobility apps, then a strategy pursuing wide user adoption may be more successful than building strongly integrated platforms in the first place. This has implications for public and private initiatives looking to build their own app or sharing their data and cooperating with others.

    Urban mobility challenges are complex and involve many different aspects. A central issue is the management of mobility data in the cities, lacking a common structure for multimodal data and access interfaces to the data. The European Commission initiatives such as the ITS Directive 2010/40/EU and the Implementing Decision 2016/209 established some lines along which these issues should be addressed. A special focus is put on the Multimodal Information Services and Systems (MISS). The HARMONY project is a CEF joint initiative by Indra and the Technical University of Madrid, created as a direct continuation of other urban mobility European efforts. It focuses on the promotion of multimodality, while improving efficiency in the use of the available network capacity. A pilot with the involvement of a public transport operator INTER-BUS, road traffic authorities and service providers is already under way in the northeast part of Madrid. The different use cases considered in the project are: • Public Transport fleet management. Addresses the integration of static and real-time public transport information, and the potential exchange of this information to third parties. This currently involves the implementation of solutions based on GTFS, GTFS-RT and SIRI. • Urban Traffic monitoring. Addresses the integration and exchange of information on road incidents between operators, and again the provision of this information to third parties. This involves the implementation of solutions based on DATEX II. • Transit information provision. The key aspect here is the provision of real-time information to public transport passengers and mobility users in general. Several solutions are being currently investigated. HARMONY is aligned in time and objectives with some of the aspects highlighted by the European Commission in the field of urban mobility, and with the corresponding efforts in different ISO and CEN standardization groups. The added value of the project should be the progress in the identification of the particularities of each city and their impact on the specification and deployment of urban mobility solutions.

    The current work deals with the scenario of growing population in the cities and the associated sustainable mobility problems. To address this problem it is developed an system called INTEGRA for a mobile device, based on the integration from different data sources such as multi-modal public transportation systems, car and bike sharing. This system is able to show and give guidance towards points of interests (POI) and promote a social collaborative network for the share of notations towards POI classification. This work is a contribution for the European Project START, where we propose the Integra System. This system’s goal is to make travel easy and sustainable improving information systems integration. This goal is shared by transport operators and authorities associated to the Integra registered brand, promoted by the START consortium, that is already prepared for UK, France, Spain and Portugal.
